Warm Green Apple and Ginger Smoothie Recipe

This sweet, tangy Warm Green Apple and Ginger Smoothie is perfect to sip on when you’re feeling like a health boost!

Ginger is amazingly good for you, packed full of plenty of health benefits to keep you feeling on top of the world —  especially if you suffer from morning sickness or osteoarthritis. As someone who is recovering from a bout of Ross River Virus, I need all the anti-inflammatories I can get, and ginger is an excellent natural source to help alleviate my aching bones. Ginger may also alleviate muscle pain and soreness, so it’s a perfect drink for when you’ve overdone it at the gym, too.

This raw, warm smoothie is nut, dairy, and gluten-free. It is sweetened with honey and contains loads of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants to help keep you on your toes.

Here is what you’ll need to make your delicious warm smoothie:

A green apple, some lime juice, a small piece of ginger and some honey. You’ll also need some warm water too.

It’s really simple to make – just place into a food processor or blender and blitz until smooth.

Pour into a mug and enjoy straight away or place into some reusable pouches to take to work for an afternoon pick me up.

1 green apple, chopped and peeled
1 1.5cm piece of raw ginger
2 tbsp of lime juice
1/4 cup of honey (or more, to taste)
1 cup of hot water (hot tap temperature — never put boiling water into a blender otherwise the pressure may cause the jug to burst open)

Place all ingredients into a food processor, blender or smoothie maker and blitz until smooth. Check for sweetness and add extra honey if desired.

Enjoy immediately or pour into reusable pouches for a lunchbox treat.

This recipe makes enough smoothie mixture for two servings.
