They are super simple to make, very cost-effective and absolutely delicious! This winter warming smoothie will satisfy both adults and children alike, and by making good use of our reusable 140ml pouches, these smoothies are mess-free for a quick breakfast in the car on the way to school or work.
Here is what you’ll need to make this nutritious smoothie.
One cup of quick oats, two cups of milk, some sugar, ground cinnamon and a tub of pureed apple. You can buy multi-packs of apple puree in the tinned fruit section of your local supermarket for a couple of dollars. I always keep some on hand to add to porridge or smoothies.
A quick tip as well – if you’re watching your pennies, don’t ever buy those expensive sachets of flavoured porridge. You can make your own with quick oats! You can buy a big bag of quick oats for less than $2, then all you need to know is the ratio – 1 part quick oats to 2 parts milk or hot water. Mix together and microwave for three to five minutes. Add one tablespoon of sugar per cup of dry quick oats, then add whatever flavours you like and serve! It couldn’t be easier and it is so much cheaper this way. Plus you avoid any extra preservatives or flavourings they might add in there.
Back to the smoothie! Mix the oats and milk in a large microwave-safe bowl and cook for five minutes. Stir through flavourings and blitz in a blender until smooth and creamy. Add extra milk if you’d like it to be a little runnier.
Pour the smoothie into our reusable pouches and enjoy!
