Creamy Strawberry Chia Smoothie Recipe

This creamy strawberry chia smoothie recipe is super yummy, versatile, and just about as healthy as you can get! Containing fresh strawberries, yoghurt, vanilla, milk and chia seeds, this smoothie is sure to satiate your sweet tooth while providing you with plenty of nutrients at the same time.

Use whatever yoghurt or milk you prefer – go with plain old vanilla yoghurt and cows milk or make it even healthier with natural yoghurt and almond milk. Totally up to you and your tastes. This smoothie recipe works perfectly with whatever type of milk and yoghurt you choose. You could even go with frozen strawberries if you don’t have any fresh ones on hand. Although at this time of year they are in plentiful supply and insanely cheap — I bought 3 punnets of fresh strawberries for just $4 at the local supermarket earlier this week!

This recipe is as simple as popping all the ingredients into your blender or food processor and blitzing everything together. Here’s what you’ll need:


1 cup of strawberries, hulled and halved or 1 cup of frozen strawberries

1/2 cup of yoghurt – plain vanilla, natural or Greek

1 tablespoon of chia seeds

1/2 a cup of milk – cows, soy, almond, rice, whatever you prefer

1/4 teaspoon of vanilla essence


Place all ingredients in a blender and blitz until smooth. Allow to sit for a few minutes before drinking to let the chia seeds expand before drinking. Serve in a glass or pour into reusable pouches for a healthy pick me up on the go.
