Cherry Vanilla Smoothie Recipe

Cherry Vanilla Smoothies are so simple to make and taste so amazing that you’ll wonder why you haven’t given them a try before!

The flavour combination of cherries and vanilla works so well together, kind of like tomato and basil, or cheese and bacon. As Jamie Oliver would say, they are best friends! These flavours make a welcome change from our usual smoothie recipes so this one is well loved in our family.

Here is what you’ll need to whip up a batch of these delicious smoothies:

Some milk, ice, frozen cherries, vanilla extract, almond extract, some sugar (we love to use raw coconut sugar but any kind is fine here) and lastly, the secret ingredient — a pinch of salt.

Use whatever type of milk you usually consume, this recipe will work well with any kind — soy, almond, rice, whatever you prefer.

Pop all the ingredients in your blender, food processor or smoothie maker until well combined. Pour into serving glasses for the grown ups, or reusable pouches for the children, and enjoy!

These fruity vanilla smoothies are perfect for lunchboxes but almond extract is an allergen that is banned from nut-free schools. Omit the almond extract if you are making these smoothies for school lunches.

1 1/2 cups frozen pitted cherries
1 1/4 cups milk
3 tbsp sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 tsp almond extract
1 pinch of salt
1 cup of ice

Combine all ingredients into a food processor, blender or smoothie maker and blend until smooth and well combined. Enjoy immediately or pour into reusable pouches and refrigerate for later.

This recipe makes enough to serve two adults.
